Please join us for our second Parent Academy that will take place on January 17th from 5:00-6:00PM in the 4th floor intervention room. Valerie (M.A., CAI-I, LPC Intern), owner of Lighthouse Intervention/LLC, will discuss the topics of anxiety/depression and suicide prevention.  The session is titled ”
Breaking the silence, starting a conversation, recognizing depression & anxiety”.  We hope that you can make it out for this informative night – snacks will be provided.

Our 2019 spelling bee will be held on Monday, January 28th, from 3:30PM – 4:30PM in the 4th floor intervention room.  Please come out to show your support for the students as they participate in this event.

Special Dress Days For December 17th – 20th

Special Dress Days For Dec. 17-10

To celebrate the arrival of Winter Break we are allowing students to have special dress days December 17th – 20th.  Here is the attire for each day.

12/17  -Merry Monday: Holiday hat, headband, bows, and scarves with the uniform.
12/18 – Flannel Tuesday: Flannel shirts and jeans
12/19 – Pajama Wednesday: Pajama day
12/20 – Tacky Thursday: Holiday, ugly or regular sweater and jeans.
What not to wear:
1.  No pajamas shorts, nightgowns, no see-through pajamas, no onesies, no onesie with hoodies.  No tights, sweatpants, athletic tights, or sweatpants.  No slippers or slides.  Pajamas should have sleeves.
2. No cut-off flannel shirts — they must have sleeves.
3. Attire can not have any inappropriate language or objects on it.

Winter break is Friday, December 21st, through January 4th and Monday, January 7th is a student holiday.  Enjoy your break – classes will resume on Tuesday, January 8th.

McTeacher Night

Join Us At McTeacher Night!

Please mark your calendars for our first McTeacher Night that will take place on Thursday, December 13th, from 4-7PM (5700 Walzem Rd).  A portion of the nights sales will go back to the school. We will also sell sugar cookies for $1/cash and we get 100% of those profits — so make sure to bring money for dessert too 🙂  Here is a list of the teachers that will be helping out that night:

Friday, November 16th, is a student holiday and Thanksgiving break is the following week (November 19th – 23rd).  Have a great holiday break and we will see everyone back on Monday, November 26th.

October 19th is our “Pink Out” day for breast cancer awareness and is also a home game for our Lady Tigers volleyball team (GO TEAM!).  The coaches and team would like to support this day by having a “Pink Out Game” and are selling shirts for this special occassion.  Please place your orders by Friday, October 12th.  Order forms are below.

HSISA Is Participating In The: Universal City Veterans Day Parade Saturday, November 3rd

HSI-SA is participating in the Universal City Veterans Day parade on Saturday, November 3rd, and we would love for our staff, students and family to join us.  Please sign up at the front office if you would like to participate – deadline to sign up is by Friday, October 26th.   All students need to have a parent or guardian to participate in this event with them.
 
We will meet at the school by 8:30AM the morning of the parade and then travel to the start up location.  All participants should wear a school spirit shirt or school colors and bring a bottle of water.  Please contact Ms. Dykes from the front office if you have any questions.  Thank you.

Flu Clinic

We are partnering up with CVS Pharmacy to host a Flu Clinic in the library on Friday, October 19th, from 11:00am – 1:00pm for our HSISA staff, students and families (flu vaccines are for ages 7 and up).  The sign-up sheet and consent forms are in the front office.  Please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity – all consent forms should be returned to the front office (click below for English or Spanish consent forms).

Join us for a fun, interactive and crafty training designed to guide you through creating engaging activities to support your child’s acquisition of basic reading skills. We will focus on the development of print concepts, phonemic awareness and phonics skills.  This training is appropriate for parents with students in any grade level that require remediation for independent decoding. All materials will be provided.
