HSI Parents/Guardians –
Please join us for our Drive-Thru Kindness Parade celebration on Friday, February 26th, from 4:00-5:00pm. A red or pink shirt with jeans may be worn to school on this day (or they can dress according to the Black History or Mardi Gras dress days – it’s their choice).
BE SURE TO TUNE INTO 97.3 FM ON YOUR CAR RADIO WHILE IN THE PARKING LOT TO HEAR SHOUT OUTS from Ms. Flores and Ms. Dykes!!!
We invite you to decorate your car with words of kindness, bright colors or encourage your scholar(s) to make a sign using kind words. As you drive through the parking lot of the school you will have the opportunity to make a couple of stops and see signs of kindness and motivation along the way.
We will be taking pictures during the event to share on social media but if you choose not to have yours taken then just let us know.
Stops will be to:
1. Receive candy with a motivational quote/sticker (front of the school)
2. All scholars who participate will receive a free shirt! (back of the school near the soccer field)
3. Take a quick picture at the photo booth (back of the school near the playground) As you drive through the parking lot of the school you will have the opportunity to make a couple of stops and see signs of kindness and motivation along the way.
Dear HSI Families,
Please click on the link below to view a powerpoint that lists the new dismissal traffic flow changes that will be put into place starting Thursday, February 25th. Thank you
Hello HSI Family!
Thank you for your patience and cooperation for the last week during the winter storm. We hope that everyone is doing well as we start warming up and you begin to get your water turned back on.
Please be sure to check the SAWS website to see whether your “boil water notice” has been lifted before you drink any tap water. Here is the direct link to their site: https://www.saws.org/
Just a few reminders as we start the week:
1.) Monday, February 22nd, is staff PD – no school for students
2.) Lunch distributions will resume on Monday, February 22nd. Monday’s drive by lunch distributions will be from 11-1.
3.) Classes resume for all in person and online students on Tuesday, February 23rd
Due to continued power and water issues in our community, and the fact that more winter weather is in the forecast, we will cancel school for the remainder of the week – no virtual or in person classes will take place.
Friday’s Parent/Teacher Conferences and Kindness Parade have been canceled as well. We know many of you are struggling right now and we want you to focus on staying safe and taking care of yourself and your families.
Meal distributions will continue on Monday, February 22nd, and classes will resume for students on Tuesday, February 23rd, as Monday is a student holiday/district staff PD day.

Teachers and other staff members of Harmony Public Schools will receive a major upgrade to their employer-paid benefits package after the Harmony Public Schools Executive Board unanimously approved a sweeping new benefits expansion.
The package will go into effect later this spring with the start of Harmony’s annual benefits enrollment period, and includes new employer-paid benefits related to health care, retirement, and life insurance.
“The past year, the world has seen the true value of our teachers and team members in a way they never have before,” Harmony Public Schools CEO Fatih Ay said. “These professionals who take such good care of our students deserve to know that they are being taken care of, as well – both their immediate needs and their long-term needs. So we are excited to be able to offer them an additional set of benefits that saves them money on their health care costs each month, while also helping them prepare for their retirement down the road.”
The new benefits include:
MATCHING RETIREMENT CONTRIBUTIONS: Exempt employees can receive 100% matching contribution to employee 403(b) and/or 457(b) plan, up to $1,500 annually depending on tenure of service. This is in addition to employee’s TRS Retirement System Benefits.
FREE VISION: Free vision care for employees.
FREE DENTAL: Free dental care for employees.
INCREASED FREE LIFE INSURANCE POLICY: Free $100,000 life insurance policy for all Exempt employees.
The package amounts to a roughly $2.4 million estimated increase in annual expenditure on employer-paid benefits for the Texas-based school system. However, Harmony Public Schools CEO Fatih Ay said the investment was worth it because of the positive impact on employee quality of life, work-life balance, and workplace satisfaction.
“The investments with the best returns are always the investment made in people,” Ay said. “We’ll continue to make these kinds of investments on behalf of our employees as often as we can.”
The expansion was the fourth major announcement related to employee benefits made by Harmony in the past year. The school system also announced two employee bonuses last year, as well as a promise to continue independently offering the now-expired federal COVID-19 leave benefits for impacted employees.
